Origin: South America

Size: 2 cm

Diet: Tropical flakes and micropellets, frozen as well as live food such as baby brine shrimp

Overview: Ember tetra is my favourite tetra species, for lots of reasons. Easy to keep, great colour if you get the bronze ones, and matching personality. As with other shoaling species, they love company so keep at least 6 of them and you will see them at their best. Of course planted tank is a must but make sure there is some open water for swimming. In the wild they live in soft, acidic waters but they have adapted well to different levels of hardness. They have long live span if looked after well. Great little fish.
